The Pentair Shaft Seal (U109-433SS) is the OEM replacement shaft seal for Pentair C/CC Series and D Series centrifugal pumps. This is the current replacement for the original U109-220 seal, effective August 2000.

This seal (U109-433SS) replaces the original U109-220, effective August 2000. If your equipment documentation or existing part is marked U109-220, U109-433SS is the correct current replacement.
The shaft seal forms the critical barrier between the pump's wet end and the motor, preventing water from migrating along the pump shaft into the motor bearings. A failing shaft seal typically presents as a drip or weep from the seal plate area — catching it early prevents costly motor damage. This is a single-piece replacement sold individually.

Pro Tip
When replacing the shaft seal, inspect the seal plate and pump shaft for scoring or corrosion — a damaged shaft surface will wear through a new seal prematurely. If your pump previously ran on the older U109-220, confirm the current part number stamped on the existing seal before ordering; U109-433SS is the direct current replacement. While the pump is disassembled for seal service, it is also a good time to inspect and replace the pump lid O-ring to avoid a second service call.
