The impeller key locks the impeller to the motor shaft, ensuring the impeller rotates in precise alignment with the shaft under load. Pro Tip
When the pump is already disassembled for impeller service, inspect the motor shaft keyway and the impeller hub keyway for any signs of deformation or wear — a damaged keyway will cause a new key to fail prematurely. Replace the key and inspect both mating surfaces before reassembly. Also confirm the key size: C Series pumps use a 3/16" square key — verify this matches the key slot in your specific impeller before ordering.
