The Pentair Cover O-Ring (14971-SM20E7) is the OEM replacement cover seal for Sta-Rite 2-inch Side Mount Multiport Valves. If your valve cover is weeping water at the seam or the existing O-ring has become brittle, flattened, or cracked, this is the direct replacement.

Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
The cover O-ring forms the primary pressure seal between the valve body and its top cover on Sta-Rite 2-inch Side Mount Multiport Valves. A compromised seal at this joint allows pressurized water to bypass the cover, resulting in visible leakage during system operation and potential loss of filter backwash efficiency. Replacing this O-ring restores the valve's rated sealing integrity at the cover interface.

Before seating the new cover O-ring, clean the groove in the valve body thoroughly — any debris or residue from the old O-ring will prevent a flat, even seat and can cause the new seal to leak immediately. Apply a thin, even coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring before installation to help it seat correctly and extend its service life. Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade the O-ring material and shorten its service life significantly.
