About This Item
The Pentair O-Ring Closure (154493Z) is the OEM replacement 6-inch diameter O-ring, for Pentair Triton II sand filters and Tagelus fiberglass sand filters. This is the seal that runs along the perimeter of the filter's top closure, keeping the tank pressurized and leak-free at the lid joint.
The closure O-ring forms a pressure-tight seal between the filter tank body and the top closure assembly. When this O-ring degrades — through UV exposure, chemical contact, or compression set — water migrates past the seal, causing visible leaks at the top of the filter housing. Replacing this O-ring restores the pressure boundary and prevents water loss at the closure joint. Match the part number on your existing O-ring before ordering, as Triton II and Tagelus filters use closure O-rings specific to their housing diameter.

Pro Tip
When replacing the closure O-ring, clean the groove in the tank body thoroughly before installing the new O-ring — mineral deposits and old lubricant residue in the groove are a common cause of premature seal failure. Apply a thin coat of Pentair's recommended O-ring lubricant to the new O-ring before seating it. If your Tagelus filter shows a style number on its data label, confirm it is styles 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 before ordering — not all Tagelus configurations use this closure O-ring.
