Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
The air bleeder adapter O-ring creates the pressure seal at the manual air relief assembly on the Triton II filter tank. When this O-ring degrades, the air bleeder assembly will weep water or fail to hold pressure at the top of the filter — a common source of drips that are easy to misdiagnose as a cracked fitting. Replacing this O-ring restores a leak-free seal at the air relief point without replacing the full adapter assembly.

Before installation, apply a thin coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring. This helps seat it evenly, prevents tearing during assembly, and extends service life. Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade rubber O-rings. While you have the air bleeder assembly open, inspect the adapter threads and the bleeder valve itself for wear or mineral buildup before reinstalling.
