The Pentair 191479Z is the OEM replacement stem O-ring for the Top and Side Mount MultiPort Valve used on the Star Polymeric D.E. Filter models ST40 and ST50.

Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.

This stem O-ring seats the multiport valve stem within the valve body, maintaining a watertight seal that prevents internal bypass and keeps the valve operating on its correct flow path. A deteriorated or compressed stem O-ring allows water to leak past the stem, reducing filtration performance and potentially causing valve handle slippage. Before installation, apply a thin coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring. This helps seat it evenly, prevents tearing during assembly, and extends service life. Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade rubber O-rings.
