Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
The lid O-ring on the LeafVac canister creates the airtight seal that allows the unit to maintain suction and contain debris during operation. When this O-ring becomes cracked, flattened, or brittle, the lid seal fails — resulting in suction loss and reduced debris capture. Replacing it restores the canister to full operating condition.

Before installation, apply a thin, even coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring. This helps the O-ring seat evenly in the groove, prevents tearing during lid assembly, and extends its service life. Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade the rubber compound and shorten the O-ring's service life significantly.
