Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
The lid assembly seals the top of the LeafVac debris canister, allowing the unit to maintain suction while capturing large debris before it reaches the pump. The locking ring secures the lid under operating pressure, and the included O-ring provides the watertight seal between the lid and canister body. Replacing all three components together ensures a reliable seal and eliminates the guesswork of sourcing each piece separately.

Before reassembling the canister, apply a thin coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring. This helps seat it evenly against the canister body, prevents tearing during assembly, and extends seal life. Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade the rubber O-ring and cause premature failure.
