Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
A worn or cracked O-ring at the cleaning head allows water pressure to escape the seal, reducing the pop-up force that drives debris toward the main drain. Replacing this O-ring restores the head's operating pressure and extends the life of the cleaning head assembly.

Pro Tip
Before installation, apply a thin coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring. This helps seat it evenly, prevents tearing during assembly, and extends service life. Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade rubber O-rings. If you're servicing the cleaning head, inspect the head body and nozzle for wear at the same time to avoid a return visit to the equipment pad.
