About This Item
The Pentair 272511Z is the OEM replacement diverter shaft O-ring for the HiFlow Six-Way 1-1/2" Top Mount Multiport Valve and compatible Tagelus filter backwash valves.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: LUBRICATION REQUIRED — SOLD SEPARATELY
Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
This O-ring seals the diverter shaft where it passes through the valve body, preventing water from bypassing the valve's internal routing. A deteriorated or compressed shaft O-ring allows water to leak around the diverter stem, reducing backwash efficiency and causing water loss at the valve handle. Replacing this O-ring restores a proper seal at the shaft and is a standard service item whenever the valve is disassembled for internal maintenance. Match the part number on your existing O-ring before ordering.

Pro Tip
Before installation, apply a thin coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring. This helps seat it evenly, prevents tearing during assembly, and extends service life. Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade rubber O-rings. While the valve is open for service, inspect the diverter rotor O-ring and any other internal seals for compression or cracking, and replace them at the same time to avoid a repeat disassembly.
