About This Item
The Pentair Air Bleeder with O-Ring (272515) is the OEM replacement air bleeder assembly for clamp-style pool valves manufactured before March 1, 1993. This part is specific to pre-1993 production units — it is not interchangeable with the current-production replacement (P/N 273512).
⚠️ IMPORTANT: PRE-1993 VALVES ONLY — VERIFY YOUR MANUFACTURE DATE BEFORE ORDERING
This air bleeder is designed exclusively for clamp-style valves built before March 1, 1993. It is not interchangeable with Pentair P/N 273512, which fits post-1993 valves. Check the manufacture date stamped on your valve body before ordering.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: LUBRICATION REQUIRED — SOLD SEPARATELY
Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
The air bleeder assembly allows trapped air to be purged from the filter valve and plumbing system during startup and after servicing. A failed or missing air bleeder prevents proper pressure relief and can cause air locks that reduce filtration efficiency. The included O-ring seals the bleeder against the valve body — replacing both components together at service time ensures a leak-free result.

Pro Tip
Before installation, apply a thin coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring. This helps seat it evenly, prevents tearing during assembly, and extends service life. Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade the rubber O-ring. If your valve was manufactured on or after March 1, 1993, order P/N 273512 instead — these two parts are not interchangeable despite their similar appearance.
