About This Item
The Pentair 272535Z is the OEM replacement compression spring for the HiFlow Six-Way 1-1/2" Top Mount Multiport Valve and TA Tagelus Filter Valve series. This 100 lb. load spring with a 1-3/8" outer diameter maintains consistent rotor pressure across valve positions, ensuring positive seating and leak-free operation at each port selection.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: 3 SPRINGS REQUIRED PER VALVE
Three (3) springs are required for a complete service of each valve. This listing is for one (1) spring. Order quantity 3 to complete a full replacement.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: VALVE MANUFACTURE DATE APPLIES
This spring (272535Z) is used on HiFlow and TA Tagelus valves manufactured after May 1, 1992. Verify your valve's manufacture date before ordering. This part replaces items 7 and 8 in the valve's parts diagram.
The compression spring applies downward load on the valve rotor assembly, holding the rotor seated firmly against the valve body and port gaskets. When springs weaken or fatigue over time, the rotor loses consistent seating pressure — resulting in internal bypass between ports, reduced backwash effectiveness, or filter mode contamination. Replacing all three springs simultaneously restores full rotor contact and eliminates port-to-port leakage.

Pro Tip
Spring fatigue rarely presents as an obvious break — more often, weakened springs allow the rotor to lift slightly under backwash pressure, causing subtle port-to-port bypass that looks like a dirty filter or reduced backwash flow. When servicing the valve rotor or spider gasket, replace all three springs at the same time regardless of visible condition. Springs are a low-cost item relative to the labor of re-opening the valve, and mismatched spring loads across the three positions will cause uneven rotor seating. Confirm your valve's manufacture date is after May 1, 1992 before ordering — earlier valves use a different spring configuration.
