Always lubricate the included O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
The air bleeder screw vents trapped air from the filter tank, maintaining proper water flow and system pressure. A damaged or leaking air bleeder allows air to accumulate in the tank, causing pressure irregularities and reduced filtration performance. This assembly includes both the screw and the O-ring as a single replacement unit.

When replacing the air bleeder, inspect the O-ring seat on the filter tank for any debris or corrosion before threading in the new assembly. Before installation, apply a thin coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring to help it seat evenly and prevent tearing during assembly. Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade the rubber O-ring and cause premature failure.
