Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
This Buna-N (nitrile rubber) O-ring seals the valve body of the Sta-Rite 1-1/2" MultiPort valve, preventing water bypass between valve positions. A degraded or damaged O-ring allows water to leak past the valve rotor, resulting in loss of filtration efficiency and potential water loss. Replacing this O-ring restores a proper seal and full valve function. Match the dash number (#2-216) and part number stamped on your existing O-ring before ordering.

Pro Tip
Before installation, apply a thin coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring. This helps seat it evenly, prevents tearing during assembly, and extends service life. Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade Buna-N rubber and accelerate seal failure. While the valve is open for service, inspect the rotor and spider gasket for wear and replace them at the same time if needed.
