This cover O-ring seals the valve cover on the Sta-Rite 1-1/2" MultiPort Valve, preventing water bypass and maintaining proper valve pressure. A damaged or compressed O-ring at this joint will allow water to escape around the cover, reducing filtration efficiency and potentially causing water loss. Match the #2-258 designation and part number stamped on your original O-ring before ordering.

Before installation, apply a thin coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring. This helps seat it evenly in the groove, prevents tearing during assembly, and extends service life. Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade Buna-N rubber and cause premature O-ring failure.
