The Pentair Trap O-Ring (35505-1440Z) is the OEM replacement strainer cover seal for the Max-E-Pro, Max-E-Pro XF, IntelliPro, Dyna-Pro, Dyna-Pro E, and WhisperFloXF pump families.

Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
⚠️ VERSION NOTE
The IntelliPro Variable Speed Pump (model INTELLIPRO) is compatible only with units manufactured before 2019. The IntelliPro VS Pump (INTELLIPRO VS) is compatible with units manufactured after 2018. Dyna-Pro / Dyna-Pro E compatibility applies to 1/2 through 2-1/2 HP models only. Verify your model and manufacture date before ordering.
This O-ring seals the strainer cover (trap lid) to the pump housing, maintaining a pressure-tight barrier that keeps the strainer basket compartment primed and prevents air from entering the system. When this seal degrades or deforms, the pump loses prime, runs dry, or draws air — reducing flow and accelerating wear on internal components. Replacing this O-ring at the first sign of weeping or difficulty seating the lid restores a reliable seal and protects the pump's service life.

Pro Tip
Before installing, apply a thin coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring. This helps seat it evenly, prevents tearing during assembly, and extends service life. Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade rubber O-rings. If you service this pump regularly, keep a spare 35505-1440Z on hand; the O-ring is an inexpensive insurance policy against a lost prime between service visits.
