About This Item
The Pentair 35505-7438Z is the OEM replacement O-ring for the Sta-Rite System:3 Modular SMD Series D.E. Filter — measuring 2-3/4" x 1/4" and designed to maintain a leak-free seal at the elbow connection on this filter system.
IMPORTANT: LUBRICATION REQUIRED — SOLD SEPARATELY
Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
This O-ring seals the elbow fitting on the Sta-Rite System:3 SMD Series D.E. Filter. When this seal degrades or takes a compression set, water can weep from the elbow joint — replacing it with the correct OEM-profile O-ring restores a proper pressure-tight seal. Match the part number on your existing O-ring before ordering to confirm this is the correct profile for your filter configuration.

Pro Tip
Before installation, apply a thin coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring. This helps seat it evenly, prevents tearing during assembly, and extends service life. Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade rubber O-rings and cause premature failure.
