About This Item
The Pentair Lid O-Ring (356189Z) is the OEM replacement strainer cover O-ring for the IntelliFlo3 and IntelliPro3 Variable Speed and Flow pool pumps.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: LUBRICATION REQUIRED — SOLD SEPARATELY
Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.
This O-ring seats between the strainer pot lid and the pump housing, creating the airtight seal that keeps the strainer chamber pressurised and primed. When this seal degrades — through UV exposure, chemical contact, or repeated lid removals — air enters the strainer cavity, disrupting prime and reducing flow performance. Replacing this O-ring at the first sign of cracking, flattening, or lid weeping restores the seal and protects pump efficiency.

Pro Tip
Before installation, apply a thin coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring. This helps it seat evenly in the groove, prevents tearing as the lid is threaded on, and extends service life between replacements. Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade the rubber and accelerate seal failure. While the strainer pot is open, visually inspect the lid threads and the seating groove in the housing for cracks or debris before fitting the new O-ring.
