Always lubricate this O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant before installation. We carry the Pentair R172351 Lifeguard Silicone Lubricant — the OEM-matched product for Pentair equipment.

This cover O-ring seals the strainer lid to the strainer housing on the Ultra-Flow pump, preventing air from entering the suction side of the system. A degraded or flattened O-ring allows air ingestion, which reduces prime and can cause the pump to lose flow. Match the part number on your existing O-ring before ordering.

Never use petroleum-based lubricants — they will degrade Buna-N rubber.
