This kit is compatible with MasterTemp ASME heaters built with the New Header Design from October 2012 to present. Heaters manufactured before October 2012 use a different header design and require a different pressure relief valve. Verify your heater's manufacture date and header design before ordering.
The ASME pressure relief valve is a mandatory safety component on ASME-rated pool and spa heaters. It is designed to open automatically when system pressure exceeds the rated threshold, venting water to prevent dangerous over-pressurization of the heater's heat exchanger and header assembly. A valve that fails to open under excess pressure — or that weeps continuously at normal operating pressure — must be replaced immediately to maintain safe heater operation and ASME code compliance.
