The run capacitor supports the compressor and fan motor circuits within the heat pump, providing the phase-shifted current needed to start and sustain motor operation. A failed or degraded capacitor is a common cause of compressor hard-start faults, fan motor failure to run, or a heat pump that trips on high-pressure lockout without an apparent refrigerant issue. Replacing this component with the correct OEM part restores proper motor starting torque and protects the compressor from repeated hard-start stress.
