About This Item
The Pentair 150 Watt UV Lamp (523038) is the OEM replacement UV lamp for the Pentair BioShield UV System, designed to restore full ultraviolet sanitizing output when the existing lamp reaches the end of its service life.
The UV lamp is the active sanitizing element inside the BioShield system. As water passes through the UV chamber, the lamp emits ultraviolet light at a germicidal wavelength that disrupts the DNA of bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms, rendering them unable to reproduce. When lamp output degrades — typically after 9,000–12,000 hours of operation — sanitizing effectiveness drops even though the lamp may still appear to illuminate. Replacing the lamp on schedule maintains the system's disinfection performance.

Pro Tip
UV lamps degrade gradually — the lamp may still glow long after germicidal output has dropped below effective levels. Check your BioShield system's lamp hour counter or service indicator and replace on the manufacturer's recommended interval rather than waiting for visible failure. When replacing, handle the lamp by its end caps only; skin oils on the quartz sleeve can create hot spots that shorten lamp life.
