The Pentair C5-247 is the OEM replacement medium head impeller for the D Series 5 HP self-priming centrifugal pool and spa pump.

This impeller reflects a design change effective June 1997. Confirm your pump was manufactured or serviced after this date, or that your existing impeller carries part number C5-247, before ordering.
The impeller is the rotating component inside the pump volute that generates hydraulic pressure and flow. In a medium head configuration, the impeller geometry is optimised for balanced head and flow performance at 5 HP. A worn, cracked, or eroded impeller reduces flow rate, increases energy draw, and can cause the pump to lose prime. Replacing the impeller with the correct OEM part restores rated hydraulic performance. Match the part number moulded or stamped on your existing impeller before ordering.

Before removing the old impeller, photograph the volute and wear ring condition. If the wear ring shows visible scoring or uneven wear, replace it at the same service interval — a new impeller running against a worn wear ring will not restore full rated flow. Also confirm you are ordering the medium head variant (C5-247) and not a high head impeller for the same pump family — the two are not interchangeable and will produce significantly different hydraulic performance.
