The Pentair R172223 is the OEM replacement lid-to-housing O-ring for Pentair inline and top-load cartridge filter housings. This Buna-N (#360) O-ring seals the joint between the filter lid and the housing body, preventing pressurized water from bypassing the filter element or leaking at the lid connection.

Before installation, apply a thin, even coat of Pentair R172351 Lifeguard® Silicone Lubricant to the O-ring. This helps the ring seat evenly in the groove, prevents tearing during lid assembly, and extends service life. Never use petroleum-based products such as WD-40 or Vaseline — these will degrade Buna-N rubber and cause premature seal failure.
