About This Item
The Hayward Booster Pump (W36060) supplies the dedicated pressure needed to power a pressure-side pool cleaner, working alongside your existing in-ground filtration system to keep the cleaner running at the pressure it's designed for.
IMPORTANT: BOOSTER PUMP — NOT A PRIMARY FILTRATION PUMP
This is a booster pump for pressure-side pool cleaners. It must operate together with your pool's filtration pump and is not intended to replace or serve as your main circulation/filtration pump.
IMPORTANT: DUAL-VOLTAGE CONFIGURATION
This pump is rated for dual voltage (208-230V / 115V) and is field-configurable for either supply. Wiring must be performed by a qualified electrician on a permanently connected, GFCI-protected circuit — never with an extension cord.
Unique Features & Technology
- Totally enclosed fan-cooled (TEFC) motor for reliable outdoor operation
- Automatic thermal overload protection shuts the motor down before heat damage occurs and restarts it automatically once cooled
- Includes 3/4 in hose barb union adapters for retrofitting existing flexible-hose booster installations, plus 1-1/2 in plumbing union fittings for straightforward installation and removal
- Self-lubricating motor bearings and shaft seal design eliminate the need for routine lubrication
- DOE-compliant motor with a WEF rating of 0.6

Pool Size & Application
Designed for permanently-installed in-ground pools using a pressure-side cleaner — not intended for use with storable/above-ground pools. The booster pump requires a minimum supply flow of 8 GPM from the filtration system to operate properly.
System Integration
The booster pump must be interlocked with your filtration pump: the filtration pump has to be running, and a pressure cleaner connected, before the booster starts, and the booster should be shut off before the filtration pump. Hayward recommends a separate time clock for the booster so it engages after — and disengages before — the filtration pump's cycle. Plumbing connections use the included 1-1/2 in union fittings, with 3/4 in hose barb adapters provided for retrofitting existing flexible-hose setups. Electrical connection must be permanent (no extension cords) on a GFCI-protected, properly grounded and bonded circuit — reference a qualified electrician for wiring.
Common Replacement Parts
Keep this booster pump running with these commonly-replaced wear components: Booster Pump Volute (AX6060A), O-Ring #2-262, 50D EPDM (AX6060S), and Drain Plug and Gasket (SPX4000FG).
Poolaroo Pro Tip
Run your booster pump on its own time clock rather than tying it directly to the filtration pump's schedule — start it about 30 minutes after filtration begins and shut it off at least 30 minutes before filtration stops. This protects the motor from ever running without adequate water supply and gives your pressure cleaner consistent pressure for its full cycle. Also remember to remove the seal-plate drain plug and fully drain the pump before winterizing.
