Pool Size & Application
The PowerFlo LX series is designed for above-ground and on-ground swimming pools, providing circulation suited to the piping and installation conditions typical of these pool types.
System Integration & Safety
This pump must be connected only to a GFCI-protected branch circuit, per NEC requirements — never operate it on an unprotected circuit. It must be installed below the pool's waterline, as the PowerFlo LX is not self-priming above water level. Never run the pump dry; the strainer housing should be filled with water before startup to protect the mechanical shaft seal. Motor bearings and shaft seals are self-lubricating and require no additional lubrication — just keep the motor's air vents clear of obstruction.
Common Replacement Parts
Keep this pump running with genuine Hayward wear parts: Strainer Housing with Basket (SPX1500CAP), Strainer Cover with O-Ring (SPX1500D2A), O-Ring (SPX1500P), Pipe Plug with Gasket (SPX1700FG), and the O-Ring Kit (SPX1495Z1).
Poolaroo Pro Tip
Take advantage of the clear strainer cover — a quick visual check every week or two lets you catch a full basket before it restricts flow, rather than waiting for a pressure drop to tell you. At season's end, remove the strainer body's drain plug to fully drain the pump before storage, and store the unit in a dry, uncovered location to prevent moisture buildup.
