The Pentair Tank Bottom Assembly (178578) is the OEM replacement lower housing shell for the Pentair Clean & Clear Plus cartridge filter series — 240, 320, 420, and 520 sq. ft. models manufactured after November 1998. This is the Almond colored version; for the Gray version, see part number 178560.

This is the Almond tank bottom. If your Clean & Clear Plus filter is Gray, you need the Gray Tank Bottom (178560). Compare the color of your existing housing before adding to cart.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: VERIFY FITMENT WHEN MIXING TANK HALVES
Replacing only the tank bottom while retaining an existing tank top can result in a poor seal. Design revisions, manufacturing tolerances, and aging or warpage of the existing half can prevent proper mating. For best results, replace both tank halves at the same time and always install a new tank O-ring.

This part is designed for Clean & Clear Plus filters manufactured after November 1998. It is not compatible with the original pre-1998 Clean & Clear (non-Plus) series, which used a different tank design. Check the date code or model label on your filter before ordering.
The tank bottom is the lower pressure vessel shell of the Clean & Clear Plus filter. It houses the cartridge elements and mates to the tank top half, sealing via a large O-ring and secured with a clamp band around the perimeter. When a tank bottom develops cracks, stress fractures, or irreparable damage from UV exposure or physical impact, this OEM assembly restores the filter housing to factory condition.
